Beer Battered Tofu & Chips


  • 1 package extra firm tofu.
  • 1 bottle malt vinegar.
  • 1 cup flou.
  • 1 cup european beer.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper, or to taste.
  • 2 cups vegetable or peanut oil.
  • Frozen chips (thick cut french fries).

  • Drain the tofu & rinse under cold water.
  • Press tofu with a tofu press or 2 plates, drain excess water.
  • Place tofu in a bowl & cover with malt vinegar. Soak for at least an hour, to overnight.
  • Bake chips (thick cut french fries) according to package directions.
  • Pat tofu dry & cut lengthwise into strips.
  • Heat the oil in a fry pan, wok, or shallow pot on medium-high heat.
  • Mix flour & beer together in a big bowl. Stir in paprika, salt, & pepper.
  • Dredge tofu strips one-by-one in batter, coat thoroughly, & then use tongs to place each tofu strip in hot oil. Fry in oil until the batter turns golden brown.Place on paper towels to drain.
  • Eat your tofu & chips!
